The Day Jimmy Choo Bought One Of My Bags.

Legendary shoe designer Jimmy Choo came to Covent Garden in Februaury and bought one of my bags! This was the one, orange dachshund on royal blue suede.

Thanks for transforming my day for the better Jimmy! I won't forget it. #jimmychoo

'SILHOUETTES' Book published today!

My book of fun graphics is published today!

'SILHOUETTES' was inspired by the the buckles I design for my bag collections. Talking to children who were admiring all the different shapes, inspired me to create a book of them all. The book has no text and no age or language barriers and there is a subtle narrative that runs throughout the book but it is mostly a colourful, fun, collection of silhouettes and graphics. Suitable for children and adults alike to enjoy!

The book can be purchased on my website www.heidisturgess.com
Or at Amazon

Drawing Birds

I have been drawing birds since I was knee high to a sparrow. I did this huge drawing of a bird's nest in 2010. It's about 3 times lifesize. I'm not sure why I drew it so large because it took an entire week to finish! I found the abandoned nest in a hedge by a bus stop one afternoon in Battersea. The imaginery bird is actually based on a white blackbird I saw in the Natural History Museum in London (yes there is such a thing!).

I am thinking I might do some more work on it and make it more surreal but in the meantime I am using it as inspiration for one of the picture books I am writing. Anyone who hasn't seen Birds of America by John James Audubon should take a look. They are beautiful paintings.
